About Chris

Greetings and welcome to the 2012 edition of the NISG Elections blog!

My name is Chris Miller and I’m a junior economics and accounting double major. I also am lucky enough to be one of this year’s writers for the NISG Election Blog. I’ve been a part of NISG since my freshman year, when I was appointed as the College of Business Administration senator, and then reelected in last year’s general election. Throughout my time in NISG, I have served on the the Organization and Finance Committee (as chair), the Student Services Fee Committee, the Intercollegiate Academic Fund Committee and at least eight other university committees. In addition to my committee duties, I spent this past year working to bring the New York Times to the Union.

Outside of NISG, I am actively involved in Sigma Phi Epsilon, Connecting Alumni to Students (CATS), and the Maucker Union Advisory Board. In 2010, I was honored to be named both the Student Leadership Center and Greek Life Emerging Leader of the Year. However, if I had to choose, my greatest accomplishment was being named “Campus Cutie” my freshman year.

My mission for the NISG Elections Blog is to provide UNI students with in-depth analysis of the 2012 NISG elections. It’s my goal for this year’s election to break records for number of total votes cast, number of contested races, and amount of discussion generated about the candidates. Since I’ve been a part of NISG, I’ve never been afraid to speak up, and that will continue this election season. It’s my hope that this blog will be a means to keep all candidates, presidential and senatorial alike, accountable for their promises and consistently thinking about what they can do better for the student body.

I’m excited for the upcoming campaign season and I look forward to informing you about what’s going on in your student government. I will give you background information, platform analysis, and my honest opinions in hopes to make your vote this February as informed as possible. So stick around and keep checking back for updates!
