College of Business
-Michael Lunn (Off-Campus Senator, Junior, Economics Major) Facebook Page
-Chris Miller (Vice Chair of the Organization and Finance Committee and College of Business Senator, Sophomore, Economics Major) Facebook Page
This contested election is between two current Senators. Chris Miller currently represents the College of Business so that gives him a bit of an edge over Michael Lunn. With all the open seats, it is unfortunate that these two had to face off. Should be a close race.

-Nate Konrardy (Director of Greek Relations-Fraternities, Sophomore, Communication Major)

-Chase Aunspach (Rhonda and Adam Campaign Manager, Sophomore, Political Communication and Communication Majors)
Noehren Hall
-Corey Cooling (Sophomore, Physics and Philosophy Majors) Facebook Event
-Kelechi Ubochi (NISG External Relations Committee Member, Freshmen, Biology Major)
This contested seat should be a close race to watch. Neither Cooling or Ubochi are currently in NISG. Both are quite young and have a lot of potential. If I were them, I would also have my friends write me in for my college (Ubochi - College of Natural Sciences is OPEN). It would be great to see both of these newcomers on Senate next year.

*There is a Write-In-Candidate vying for this seat
If you are interested in Senate and are eligible to serve in one of the currently uncontested seats, I encourage you to run a write-in-campaign. Just message some friends on Facebook, ask your hallmates and classmates to write you in. Unfortunately there was very little promotion by NISG of the deadlines for packets or that there was even going to be an election, so only 12 individuals are currently running for the 38 available Senate seats. Please email me (Trevor@NISGElections.com) or comment on this post if you are going to run a Write-In-Campaign so we can make sure to get you listed.
And to think it was a hot debate on reducing the size of the senate. A downright dirty shame that this happens almost every year.
ReplyDeleteAs I recognize that it is rough to be in one of the only contested elections, this is also a fantastic thing. Without competition I would just cruise to the 22nd-23rd and MAYBE (just maybe) post a status come election day saying to vote for me.
ReplyDeleteNow that my seat is up for grabs I will be visiting student groups, developing a platform, and actually do things that a senator is supposed to do.
Adam and Readers,
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is interested in seeing a Senate meeting, the meetings are Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM in the University Room, lower level Maucker Union. Also, if someone has questions about how the NISG Senate works, they are encouraged and welcome to send me an e-mail kshannon [at] uni.edu.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Speaker Kevin Shannon
Ubochi is actually a voting member of the External Relations Committee of Senate.
ReplyDeleteAlfred is the newly appointed Chair of GALA and A. Miller is the newly appointed Vice Chair of GALA. :)
Excellent! Thank you Rhonda! Like I said, we only had what we could rummage up from the NISG Website. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh, so the new rules did not take effect? I live in University Apartments but did not run because I know no one in ROTH and Noehran and thought I had to run against them. What terrible advertising, if more people knew how to run there may have been less vacancies.
ReplyDelete@Adam Sorrelle
ReplyDeleteThe new rules have to be voted on this election cycle by the student body because they were a constitutional change. I would encourage you to run a write-in-campaign!
Could you update the list of candidates by including the many write-in campaigns that have sprung up for various posts? It will probably be challenging for people to remember the list of write-in candidates as it is; updating this list might allow people to remember better (or at least have the list of all candidates in front of them when they vote) and consider all candidates for all positions. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteUpdated. You can also click the "Senate Elections" tab up top which always has an up-to-date list.
